The Blue Dragon 12 tugboat which was pulling a coal barge exploded and sank in a tributary of the Semoi River, Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency, Saturday (23/7/2022)
Nine people survived and one is missing, still being searched. The police sent down a tum to investigate the incident.
In the video that recorded the incident, passengers could be heard panicking. This 30-second video also hears residents shouting that the barge exploded.

According to the Head of Basarnas Operations in East Kalimantan, Basri, the ship was loaded with 10 passengers with details of nine surviving and one missing. His party sent a rescue team with diving equipment to a location 21.5 nautical miles from Balikpapan.
Meanwhile, the Polair Polda Kaltim investigated the cause of the explosion of the tugboat. Police are focused on looking for one crew member who was reported missing. “We are examining witnesses,” explained the Head of Public Relations of the East Kalimantan Police, Kombes Pol Yusuf Sutejo.
